Visited Japan today…

April 18th:

… In Irvine, California :) went to a fabulous japanese mall, frequented mostly by expats – we ate Tonkatsu and Tempura and visited the gimmick shops for a girlie squeal over Hello Kitty keyrings and a japanese book shop with everything under the sun from arts and craft books to travel books to lord knows really, I don’t speak the language!

Its not often you get to revisit that time in your childhood where you couldn’t read and letters were just mysterious pictures hiding secrets you were dying to access but didn’t have the code for… I felt like that, standing in that sea of japanese… In a world where our brains have a full time job decoding the words that are shouting at us from all sides (shouting being the operative word here, with the advent of digital signage the written word has been given an actual voice) it is a great reminder of how dependent we are on our A,B,Cs…
